Has a teacher inspired, supported, or transformed your learning experience? Express your appreciation through video storytelling — and gain iGPS points while doing it!
Celebrate the teachers who have made a difference in your academic journey by joining our video competition! This is your chance to showcase your creativity and multimedia skills while honouring the HSUHK Teaching Excellence Award (TEA) recipients for 2023/24.
We invite all undergraduate students to participate in our video production competition to honour your teacher who has received the HSUHK Teaching Excellence Award!
These are the HSUHK Teaching Excellence Award Recipients in AY2023/24:

3. Mr LEE Wai Yip, Harry (Senior Lecturer, Department of Supply Chain and Information Management)
4. Ms WOO Yan Yin, Rosalie (Senior Lecturer, Department of Economics and Finance)
5. Dr YUE Ho Yin, Willy (Senior Lecturer, Department of Computer Science)
In collaboration with the Information Technology Services Centre (ITSC), they will offer some workshops on virtual production techniques and editing skills to facilitate your video production. Further details will be provided in due course.  
Competition Details
Theme
“Moments with Meaning”
Create a short, meaningful video story about one of the TEA awardees.
Eligibility
- Open to all HSUHK undergraduate students.
 - Form a team of up to 4 members.
 - One submission per team.
 
Competition Phases
Phase 1: Submit a Storyboard
Deadline: 5 December 2025 (Friday) 23:59 pm  
Submit the following:
- Rationale: Why you chose this award-winning teacher?
 - Storyboard: Please download the template HERE.
 - Budget Plan (max: HK$3,000)
 - Submit a portfolio / video you have made for our reference. Links will be fine.

Phase 2: Application Results
- Shortlisted teams will be notified via email around mid-December 2025.
 - Final approval will be sought from the award winning teacher and the panel.
 - Winning teams will be announced by late December 2025
 
Phase 3: Produce Your Video
- Receive mentorship from TEA recipients and the Teaching and Learning Enhancement Section (TLES).
 - TLES supports include:
- Venue booking support
 - CPAO permissions
 - Reimbursements post-submission
 
 
- Production timeline: late December to March 2026
 
Video Requirements
- Length: 1-2 minute(s)
 - Language: Cantonese with bilingual subtitles
 - Format: MP4 or MOV
 - Resolution: maximum 1920×1080 pixel / minimum 1280×720 pixel
 - Maximum file size: 2 GB
 - Content ideas:
- Impactful teaching moments
 - Innovative methods
 - Personal stories of growth
 
 
Submission Guidelines for the Video
1) Title your video with your team’s name and your teacher’s name (e.g., “Team Alpha – Story about Mr Ricky Lam”).
2) Concerning copyright infringement, be cautious with the use of background music or other multimedia elements which is allowed / encouraged.
3) You must obtain consent from anyone else featured in the video besides the teacher. You may download the consent form HERE for your further action.
4) Submit your final video with bilingual subtitles by saving your video on OneDrive or Google Drive and share the editable link with us at teaching-learning@hsu.edu.hk. Ensure the video is downloadable.
5) Deadline for submission: 16 March 2026 (Monday) 
Judging Criteria
- Relevance to the theme
 - Creativity and originality in presentation
 - Clarity in expressing your thoughts
 - Emotional impact and engagement
 - Visual impact
 
Awards and Recognition:
- Winning videos will be showcased on campus digital signage i.e. Campus Show TV, HSUHK and Teaching and Learning Enhancement Section’s YouTube Channel, Teaching and Learning Enhancement Section’s Instagram account.
 - The expenses for producing the video are capped at HK$3,000. Any unspent expenses would be properly cashed back to your team. Further details will be provided.
 - The team leader and your teammates will be awarded up to 6 iGPS to acknowledge the effort spent on the production of the video.

Resources

- Participants must ensure all entries are original and do not infringe on any copyrights.
 - A student should not submit more than one entry to a team.
 - Entries containing potentially offensive materials or any materials infringing copyright will be disqualified.
 - The decision of the judging panel shall be ultimate.
 - The organiser reserves the right to amend the rules of the competition without prior notification.
 - Submission of the video for the Competition is tantamount to giving the organiser the right to use, edit, adapt, distribute, broadcast such video on different platforms, including but not limited to website(s) and social media, as well as other platforms accessible to the public.
 - The organiser shall have the right to edit, adapt, copy, distribute and show the videos for publicity purpose without obtaining the further prior permission of the participants and without offering any further compensation in any form.
