In view of the challenges brought by the switch from face-to-face teaching to online or mixed mode teaching, the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) organised the seminar, namely “From Online Teaching to Mixed Mode Teaching: Some Food for Thoughts”, on 18 March 2021 (Thursday). The seminar provided an opportunity for teachers to exchange their experience and tips for online or mixed mode teaching.
Dr Cathy Fung, Senior Lecturer, Department of Chinese, spoke in her sharing “從武俠小說看網上教學” about the inspiration she got from martial arts (Wuxia) novels for teacher-student interactions in online teaching.
Dr George Ho, Assistant Professor, Department of Supply Chain and Information Management, introduced a handful of useful tools for online classroom and his practice of conducting online lab courses in his sharing “The ‘Smart’ Approach for Engagement Motivation in Online Teaching”.
Dr Christine Choy, Assistant Professor, Department of Art and Design, brought mixed mode teaching ideas for engaging students on-site and online together in her sharing “Engaging Students through a Participatory Classroom”.
23 participants joined the seminar online and found the speakers’ sharing useful, interesting and inspiring.
