HSUHK Teaching and Learning Forum 2021

The Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) successfully organised the HSUHK Teaching and Learning Forum 2021, themed “Let’s Create a BRAINstorm in a Teacup: Dialogues with Different Educators”, on 25 May 2021. The Forum served as a cross-institutional platform for educators to share the best practices and the most updated experience of teaching and learning for the promotion of teaching excellence. Following the first Forum in 2019, the number of speakers tripled to 18 at the second Forum, featuring the 10 recipients of the HSUHK Teaching Excellence Awards of 2018/19 and 2019/20 and 8 distinguished scholars from a wide range of local tertiary institutions. In the new normal of online teaching, it was CTL’s first-time endeavour to host the HSUHK Teaching and Learning Forum in the mixed mode.

Professor Simon Ho, the President, gave the Welcoming and Opening Address at the Opening Ceremony. Professor Y.V. Hui, Acting Provost and Vice-President (Academic and Research), welcomed and presented souvenirs for the external guest speakers.

The 18 speakers conversed in pairs at the 3 Parallel Sessions covering topics of teaching business, languages, philosophy, social science, quality management, and online teaching in the new normal. Professor Bradley Barnes, Dean of the School of BusinessProfessor K.K. Tam, Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Science, and Dr Eva Hung, Associate Head of the Department of Social Science, gave warm introductory remarks for the 3 Parallel Sessions. The on-campus Forum with live broadcast was well attended by more than 70 participants, including colleagues and the educators from many other higher education institutions. Besides the dialogues of our excellent teachers and their guests, the participants also had plenty of opportunities to exchange views with the speakers.
